Welcome to the Pierre du Bois Foundation created in 2008, in accordance with the wishes of Pierre du Bois, who outlined its objectives long ago: to stimulate research in current history and to support researchers and students in this field.
Pierre du Bois Prize 2022 – ex aequo, Joel Veldkamp and Michele Sollai
The recipients of the Pierre du Bois Prize in 2022, awarded annually for the best doctoral thesis in International History and Politics defended at the Geneva Graduate Institute, are, ex aequo, Dr Michele Sollai and Dr Joel Alfred Veldkamp.
The second Annual Pierre du Bois Doctoral Workshop, organized by the Graduate Institute in partnership with the Pierre du Bois Foundation, will take place on 29-30 September 2022. The workshop is titled “Histories of Capitalism in Europe and the World”, and is organized by Fernanda Conforto de Oliveira, Michele Zampa, Oluwaseun Williams, and Amal Shahid.

The Annual Pierre du Bois Conference, organized by the Graduate Institute in partnership with the Pierre du Bois Foundation and with support from the Swiss National Science Foundation took place at the Maison de la Paix from 12-14 May. A Keynote Lecture titled, Now You See It, Now You Don’t: Changing Sightlines on the Japanese Empire was given by Louise Young, the ‘Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’.
